CAN DEVELOPMENT OF CROOKED TEETH PREVENTED?

With the evolution of human race, you easily find rising number of children with crooked teeth, forwardly placed teeth or some sort of teeth alignment problems. What if i say, there is a way to prevent these conditions or there is a way to align your teeth in a natural way!!! Would'nt you be interested...?

There is a scientifically proven theory of human face growth that states, "Form follows function". What does that mean! The form and structure of our skelatal facial pattern is highly influenced by the functions of the face, next to genetics. To make it more clear, the functions of the mouth like breathing, swallowing, speech, tongue movements play an important role in the normal growth and development of jaws and the alignment of teeth.

When there is a disturbance in these functions, form is also affected. You got it!!!

Healthier the function, Beautiful the Smile.

Most of the common teeth alignment problems are because of an imbalance in the muscle activity during improper functions like mouth breathing, tongue thrusting or improper swallowing patterns. So when we, specially trained in this field (myofunctional orthodontics), have a chance to identify this muscle imbalance at an earlier age, even as early as 3 or 4 years, we can help the child develop a normal function and ultimately prevent crooked teeth using simple exercises and specially designed simple appliances called Oral Myofunctional Therapy(OMT).

The age group between 7-13 years, is the very crucial period to prevent and correct a developing teeth and jaw bone problems because this is the time the permanent teeth are erupting one by one and also the time during which maximum growth of the jaw bones occur. During this age group, it is easier to prevent and also correct these problems with OMT and most of the time children may not even need braces treatment later or even if required, extraction of teeth for braces treatment can be avoided to a greater extent, otherwise deemed necessary.

The correction of vital functions like breathing, swallowing and speech is important not just for teeth alignment but for a general overall wellbeing as well.

The general myth that teeth alignment are to be corrected after 13 years when all the permanent teeth have completely erupted is totally wrong. This misconception by general dentists needs to be changed too. Prevention is always better than cure and it is easier too.

Balance in muscles of face is important for a good teeth and jaw bonwe alignment
